On December 20th, 2006, the United Nations passed Resolution 61/225 establishing “World Diabetes Day”. The symbol developed for the UN Resolution’s campaign was a blue circle.
The color blue was chosen to represent the color of the sky and the flag of the United Nations. The circle was chosen as a common, natural occurance used since the earliest memories of humans across cultures. Often the circle symbolizes life, health, and wholeness.
This is where I began . . . a simple blue circle.
Then I thought about the upheaval my diagnosis brought into my life. Just like a hurricane. So I modified the blue circle to represent the upheaval that sweeps through your life and leaves you like a survivor after a hurricane. Inside the circle I put a red
background. Red has long been connected with first aid and emergency health. Inside that, is the more modern blue rune symbol used by health organizations and personnel with a cut-out in the center for a red cross to show through. Surrounding the red cross are the T2D FAK letters. That’s what the logo means and how it was developed.
All of this was AFTER I wrote the T2D FAK in brochure form. I went through hell when I was diagnosed and it was devastating to my world. I decided to try and help others that found themselves in the same position I found myself. For the first week or so, I didn't even know how to feed myself.
The T2DFAK fixes that. Now, anyone with any level of income or skill can start the process of rearranging their life to their new lifestyle with a guidebook at least. I distribute it for no cost and encourage everyone to distribute it to everyone your know with Type 2 Diabetes.
Now, the website.
I run this site personally. It’s not a corporation, a company, or an office with a staff . . . It’s just me. I pay for the hosting, I develop the site, I produce all of the content. And I distribute as much information as possible for no cost. The information is life changing and life saving.
Any monies contributed here are appreciated and are applied primarily to the hosting, support, and development of the site. It’s not my intent to “get rich” off my diagnosis.
PayPal donations can be made on any page. You do not need a PayPal account to donate. Any Visa/MasterCard Credit/Debit card is accepted. Payments will show as going to Homeless Bob's Hardware as that is my business PayPal account.
